A transgender woman has told her remarkable story of how the woman she married as a man stood by her through her sex change.
Chloe Prince, who was born male, as Ted, was happily married to Renee for eight years and had two children before a severe reaction to a bee sting triggered a drop in levels of the male hormone, testosterone.
As his skin softened and he developed a more womanly shape, Ted discovered that he felt more comfortable with his body, and ultimately was inspired to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Today, the couple, from Jackson, Ohio, appeared on Anderson Cooper's show to discuss their experiences.
Chloe, 40, explained how the drop in her testosterone levels following the bee sting was due to a rare genetic condition called Klinefelter's syndrome - something she had been unaware of.
The shock of the sting, she says, essentially 'reset' Ted's endocrine system, triggering more severe side-effects of Klinefelter's, one of which is low male hormone.
'It definitely lent itself to my transsexualism,' she said.
'I had been dealing with gender identity issues all my life, really when this came and it was a diagnosis and my testosterone levels started to lower it really lent itself because I was starting to develop breasts and my skin was softening, my body mass was changing and I was liking the changes.'

Just married: Ted, who would later become Chloe, with Renee at their wedding
She admitted that even as a child, enjoyed dressing in feminine outfits, but was confused by the feelings, and had hoped that by 'straighten[ing] up and be[ing] the man that my parents wanted me to be', the unsettling sense would go away.
'I felt if I built a life as a man, I went out and bought a motorcycle... get married, have some kids, this feeling, that I just couldn't explain, I didn't know the words of what it was, that it would just go away...
'I could have left at any time but I had a level of commitment I was able to keep and stick with and I still feel a level of commitment'
'Up until the point where I started getting the information I needed, I just felt this was some kind of confusion in my brain or a perversion, I didn't know what it was, a sexual fetish.'
But Renee, 48, admitted she struggled with her husband's decision to become a woman, and was embarrassed the first time Chloe stepped out dressed in women's clothing.
She even considered ending the relationship before eventually coming to terms with the idea.
She revealed: 'I could have left at any time but I had a level of commitment I was able to keep and stick with and I still feel a level of commitment.'

In love: The couple said that their children and commitment to one another kept them together, though they now no longer have sexual relations
Noting that their children were also a factor in her decision, she added: 'And also our love for each other, so it keeps us together.'
Despite this love, the couple said that they would not describe themselves as a lesbian couple, nor do they have sexual relations.
Chloe explained: 'I am attracted to men and I identify as a heterosexual woman, and when I was a male, I was a heterosexual male.
'I don't think that necessarily means you have to go that way, that's just the way I personally feel but I have had relationships both ways so there's room for figuring out still there.'
They revealed that they are no longer legally married, though they live together and share a house together.
'We share responsibilities, we raise our children together, we make decisions together,' Chloe concluded.
